Tabriz Pendant Light

A sheet of heavily textured glass draped over a brass bar and cut into hanging teardrop tongues, so the bottom edge breaks up rather than finishing in a line.

The glass is cast with a coarse ripple through it, closer to frozen water than to a smooth pane, and it is thick enough to hold its own shape as it folds over the bar. The lamp sits behind the sheet, so what you see is light travelling through the texture and collecting in the tongues at the bottom, brightest at the tips. The frame is a plain brass bar with a right-angled return, which keeps the metalwork out of the way of the glass. It hangs from a suspension that can be shortened.

Where it works: over one end of a dining table, in a hallway where it is seen from below, or at bedside height beside a bed as a single accent.

The lamp sits behind the glass and will be seen through it, so a small clear lamp keeps the texture sharp while a frosted one softens it. No lamp is supplied.
