Yazd Wall Light

A shallow black dome on the end of a long thin arm, hooked over a wood wall mount, with a plug and an in-line switch on the flex. It reaches out over a chair or a bed without any wiring work.

The arm is a slim steel rod with a single bend near the shade, hung from a peg on a flat wooden plate so it can be swung along the wall rather than fixed in one position. The shade is a half dome in gloss black with a white interior, angled to throw light down and forward, which makes it a reading light rather than a decorative one. Because it runs on a plug and a switched flex, it can go on a wall with no supply behind it, which is the whole argument for a fitting like this in a rented room or a finished wall.

Where it works: at bedside height over a bed as a reading light, above an armchair in a reading corner, or over a desk in a home office.

The flex hangs down the wall to a plug, which is what saves you an electrician but does mean a visible cable. Plan the drop to a socket before you fix the mount, and the bulb is not included.
