Rasht Pendant Light

A wide white plate hung on three fine wires, with a small chrome dome above it holding the lamp and firing straight down into the dish. What lights the room is the plate, not the bulb.

The lamp is completely hidden inside the reflector dome, so nothing glares from any angle you would normally sit at. All the output lands on the plate below and bounces back up and outwards, which gives a broad soft light and a bright disc to look at rather than a bare source. A small hole at the centre of the plate lets a little through downwards, so the table underneath is not left dark. The whole assembly hangs on three thin wires from a single central cord.

Where it works: centred over a dining table where a soft even light matters more than a bright spot, or in a living room as the main fitting.

Because the light is bounced rather than direct it is softer than it might first appear, so this is a fitting for atmosphere over a table rather than a bright working kitchen. Bulb not included.
