Tabriz Wall Light

A cone of metal curled in on itself and fixed to the wall on its side, so light escapes from the open mouth at the bottom and over the rolled edge at the top.

The shape does the work. Because the cone is rolled rather than cut square, the opening is an oval that faces down and slightly out, and the gap behind the roll lets a second wash of light climb the wall above it. The result is two soft pools from one small fitting, which is why a compact wall light can carry a hallway on its own. The shade rotates on its mount, so the two pools can be turned to sit where you want them. The finish is a flat charcoal that reads near black in most rooms, and a white version is offered on the same body.

Where it works: beside a bed at bedside height, along a bedroom or hallway wall, or in a pair flanking a doorway.
