A two tier brass drum hung with 240 slim clear glass rods, so the whole fitting reads as a cylinder of light rather than a frame with bulbs in it.

The structure is simple: two brass rings, one wide and one narrower below it, each carrying a dense curtain of vertical clear glass rods that read as one fluted surface from a distance. Because the rods are individual rather than a single moulded shade, light breaks between them and the drum edge glitters instead of glowing flat. The brass is left plain and slightly warm so it sits behind the glass rather than competing with it. The rods are not fixed in the factory. You hang the body first, then load them one at a time, which is why the fitting arrives in a smaller box than its finished size suggests.

Where it works: over a dining room table where the two tiers can be read from below, or in a stairwell with the height to take a wide drum.
