Three opal glass globes on brass arms, set around a black cylinder hub on a straight brass stem, so the light is even and the frame does the talking.

The arms come off the hub at the same height but at different lengths, which throws the balance slightly and stops the fitting looking like a ceiling fan. Each globe is opal glass, closed at the bottom, so the lamp inside is completely hidden and what you see is three even spheres of light rather than three bright points. The stem is rigid brass with a matching flat canopy, and the black hub is the only break in the metal.

Where it works: over a dining room table, in a living room, or in a bedroom where a soft even light matters more than sparkle.

Bulbs are not included. Opal glass hides the lamp completely, so plain warm white lamps are all this needs and decorative ones would be wasted.
