Lahijan Semi Flush Ceiling Light

A drum cage strung with pale wood beads on a black metal frame, close mounted so it suits a normal ceiling height without hanging into the room.

Rows of undyed wood beads are threaded on vertical wires between two black hoops, which is what turns a plain drum into something with texture and a bit of shadow. Because the beads are spaced rather than solid, the three lamps inside throw light out between them as well as straight down, so the fitting casts a soft pattern on the ceiling around it. The wood is left natural, warm rather than orange, and the black frame keeps it from reading as beach house.

Where it works: a bedroom, a hallway or a landing where a hanging fitting would be in the way, and any room where wood already features.

Bulbs are not included and they are partly visible through the beading, so small round or candle lamps look better here than a long stick lamp.
