Four smoked glass globes on brass arms, held close to the ceiling so a wide fitting still clears a normal room.

The arms come off a brass cylinder hub at four angles and different lengths, which keeps the fitting from reading as a cross, and each one carries a globe of grey smoked glass. Smoked glass cuts the brightness and warms the tone, so what reaches the room is softer and more even than a clear globe would give. The brass is a satin finish rather than polished, and the fitting sits close to the ceiling rather than dropping into the room, which is what makes a wide fitting usable in a standard room.

Where it works: a living room, a dining room or a large bedroom with a standard ceiling that will not take a hanging fitting this wide.
