Five amber tinted glass globes on brass arms, close enough to the ceiling to suit a low room and warm enough to light a living room in the evening without a lamp.

Tinted glass does something opal glass cannot: it lets you see the filament of the lamp inside, so the fitting has a visible glowing core rather than a smooth white surface. The amber cast warms everything it touches, which is why this suits a room used at night rather than a working kitchen. The arms fan from a central hub at five different heights, a staggered burst that keeps the silhouette from reading as a simple ring, and they are polished brass against a matt black canopy. It is a room centrepiece that still clears a low ceiling.

Where it works: a living room, a bedroom, or a hallway with a low ceiling that cannot take a hanging fitting.
