Ferdows Chandelier

A shallow gold drum packed with vertical faceted prisms, hung on a chain so it can drop to whatever height a table or a stairwell needs.

The prisms are cut with long flat faces rather than rounded beads, which is what gives this its particular light: instead of a scatter of small sparkles you get broad vertical flashes that shift as you move around the room. They are set in two ranks around a gold frame, so the drum reads as solid from the side and open from below, and the five lamps sit inside where you never see them directly. It is a compact piece, better over a round table for four than as a hall centrepiece, and the chain adjusts at installation.

Where it works: over a dining table for four, in a living room corner, or on a bedroom ceiling with enough height to take the drop.

Bulbs are not supplied. Clear candle lamps rather than opal ones, because the prisms need a point source to throw any sparkle at all.
