Six hundred cool white LED lamps at close spacing on a 15m green cable, with a controller that remembers its last setting and a timer that brings it back each night.

This is the dense spacing rather than the widely spaced fairy light, so 600 lamps pack into a 15m run and the cable reads as a continuous line of light instead of separate points. The lamps are cool white, closer to daylight than to candlelight, which is what makes them read crisp against dark green foliage. The cable itself is green so it disappears into a tree rather than drawing a line across it. A 5m lead wire runs from the plug to the first lamp, and the controller offers 8 functions held on a memory chip, so it comes back the way you left it after a power cut, plus a 6 hour timer.

Where it works: indoors on a tree, along a mantelpiece or a bannister, or as a soft second light source in a living room.
