A rounded globe of white opal glass shot through with dark flecks, hung on a clear cable from a chrome ceiling rose. It reads as an object rather than a fitting.

The glass is white and opaque with grey and near black flecks suspended inside it, so unlit it looks like stone and lit it glows with the flecks showing through as shadows across the surface. The shade is a full globe, drawn in to a narrow neck at the top, and it hangs on a clear cable from a polished chrome ceiling rose that keeps the suspension almost invisible against a pale ceiling. The drop suits a standard height room over a bedside table or a hallway rather than a tall one.

Where it works: a bedroom above a bedside table, or a hallway where the drop still clears head height comfortably.
