Kerman Table Lamp

A tall opal glass vessel flecked with charcoal, under a plain white drum shade. The base reads as speckled stone until it is lit, when the flecks float inside the glass.

Confetti glass is made by rolling chips of coloured glass into the hot body before it is blown, so the pattern sits inside the wall of the vessel rather than printed on the surface. Here the flecks are charcoal grey on an opal white ground, dense around the shoulder and thinning towards the neck, which is what stops it reading as a plain white lamp. The body is a tall ovoid on a narrow foot, and the drum above it is plain white fabric, wide enough to balance the base without hiding it. This is an LED only fitting.

Where it works: on a bedside table in a pair, on a hallway console, or on a living room side table against a dark painted wall.
