A long brass bar carrying ten fluted clear glass cylinders, sized to run the length of a kitchen island rather than sit in the middle of a room.

The bar is solid brass with a burnished finish, hung on two slim drop rods so it reads as one clean horizontal line. Ten clear glass cylinders stand upright along it, each one fluted so the vertical ribs catch the filament and repeat it around the glass. Short brass spikes drop below the bar and give the underside a rhythm rather than leaving it blank. Because the shades are clear the lamps are visible, so the bulb you choose is part of the look. The lamp holders are ceramic, which the supplier chose for heat, so a warm filament lamp is fair game.

Where it works: above a kitchen island or along a long dining table, where the run of the bar can match the run of the worktop.
