Chalus Table Lamp

A fluted smoked glass teardrop base under a taupe cotton drum shade, sold together, so nothing is left to match up.

The base is pressed glass in a soft smoke grey with a faint mauve cast, drawn into a teardrop and ribbed with vertical flutes that run its full height. Above it sits a taupe cotton shade on an iron frame, slightly tapered, sized to suit the base. Taupe fabric holds back more light than white does, so the output is warm and low and mostly downward, and the smoked glass below picks up just enough of it to glow rather than disappear once the lamp is on.

Where it works: a bedside table, a hallway console, or a reading corner where a low warm light suits the room better than an overhead.

A dark shade over tinted glass makes a dim lamp. If it is the only light beside your bed, take the white shade version instead.
