Rostam Table Lamp

A big turned sphere under a collar and a wide oatmeal linen shade, whitewashed and rubbed back so it reads as old painted timber.

The base is built around a full sphere, wide and low, with a turned collar above it and a round stepped foot below, so the weight of the lamp sits close to the surface it stands on. The finish is a chalky white worked over a grey ground and rubbed back along every high point, which is what gives it the look of limed and painted wood. It is not wood. The supplier materials field says resin, so the grain is cast rather than grown. The shade is a wide tapered linen in oatmeal, with a small ball finial on top. It stands tall and substantial, weighted enough at the base to hold its own on a console, and an in-line switch runs on the flex.

Where it works: on a living room console, on a bedroom chest of drawers, or on a wide hallway table where a lamp has to hold the wall on its own.

The base is cast resin finished to look like limed wood, not timber itself, so treat it accordingly when cleaning.
