Shiraz Picture Light

A slim horizontal bar on a round brass backplate that rotates to aim light across a painting or a mirror rather than down a wall.

Solid brass with an antique burnished finish and a coat of varnish over it, so the metal darkens rather than glares under its own light. A band of knurling runs across the barrel, which is not decoration: it is the grip you turn to change the angle. The head rotates on its rod, so the beam can be set to graze a canvas from above or lifted to wash a mirror. The bar reads as one long line from the front and the backplate stays small, which keeps the fitting subordinate to whatever it is lighting.

Where it works: above a framed picture in a living room, over a mirror, or along a hallway where art needs its own light.

Match the bar length to the frame it will light. Narrower than the frame looks like a mistake, wider looks like a shelf.
