Behbahan Pendant Light

A long tapered brass cone on a fabric cable, finishing in a hand cut crystal that catches the lamp and throws it downward.

Almost all of this fitting is a slim cone of brass, narrow where the cable meets it and widening slowly to the bottom. The light does not escape until the very end, where a faceted K9 crystal sits like a stopper and breaks the beam into small bright facets. Hung in a row over an island the effect is a line of spikes rather than a line of shades. The brass is burnished so it deepens with age rather than staying uniformly bright, and the crystal lifts off separately for cleaning, which on a fitting hung above a hob is worth knowing.

Where it works: in a row over a dining table or a kitchen island, or singly beside a bed where the long drop suits a high ceiling.

Clean it with a dry cloth only. The supplier is explicit that cleaners and abrasives will take the finish off the brass.
