Shushtar Table Lamp

A small turned wood column in a distressed grey wash, under a natural linen cone shade. A bedside lamp, not a statement piece.

The base is turned like a candlestick, a stack of rings and swells narrowing to a slim neck, then painted and rubbed back so the grey settles in the grooves and pale wood shows on the high points. That textured wear is the whole character of the piece and it is why it reads older than it is. The shade is a tapered cone in an oatmeal linen, wide at the bottom, so light falls down and outwards across a bedside table rather than up into the room. It is light enough to be pulled over by its own cable, so keep the flex tidy and out of the way.

Where it works: on a bedside table, on a narrow hallway console, or on a landing shelf where a full sized lamp would not fit.
