Sohrab Floor Lamp

A plain bronze column on a weighted disc, carrying a natural linen drum shade held from outside by two visible brackets. Quiet, heavy and hard to knock over.

The stem is a straight tube in a bronze effect plate, dark and slightly warm rather than black, rising from a round disc base. The shade is a natural linen drum, and it does not sit on a harp in the usual way: two flat metal brackets run up past the outside of the shade and support it from the sides, which is why the lamp reads as one clean line from the floor to the top. A diffuser under the shade keeps anything from glaring upward at seated eye level. It is heavy for a floor lamp, which is exactly why it stays where it is put.

Where it works: a living room beside a sofa, a dining room corner, or a reading corner where a wide shade will not crowd the furniture around it.

No maximum wattage is published. It is also heavy enough to be a two person job up a staircase, which is worth saying before it is delivered.
