Jiroft Pendant Light

A full circle of rippled clear glass planks hung from an antique brass hoop, lit from three lamps set inside the drum.

The glass planks are cast with an uneven rippled face and hung in two staggered tiers all the way around the brass frame, so the drum never reads as a solid wall of glass. Three lamps sit inside, and the light leaves through the gaps between the planks as much as through the glass itself, which puts soft moving bands on the ceiling and the table below. The metalwork is antique brass plated, warm and slightly aged. It hangs on a chain with a grey braided fabric cable, adjustable at installation, so it can sit low over a table or high in a hallway.

Where it works: over a dining table at a low drop, or high in a hallway or on a landing where the full circle of glass is seen from underneath.

Three lamps sit low inside the drum, so use small candle-style LEDs to keep the fitting cool to the touch.
