Goshtasp Pendant Light

A tall brass lantern glazed on four sides in clear glass, hung on a rigid rod with the lamps visible inside it.

The frame is the design: slim brass uprights and stepped corner posts hold four flat panes of clear glass into a narrow rectangular body, taller than it is wide. Nothing is frosted, so the lamps inside are fully on show and the glass mainly reflects and edge lights rather than diffuses. Because it hangs on a rigid rod rather than a cable it stays exactly where it is set, which suits a run over a worktop where swing is a nuisance. The mounting plate is brushed brass and sits flat to the ceiling. Light spills out on all four sides and straight down.

Where it works: over a kitchen island in a row, above a dining table, or singly in a hallway with height to spare.
