Shiraz Floor Lamp

A tall floor lamp built on a column of stacked, rounded wood forms, finished natural and topped with a plain white drum shade.

The base is turned from wood into a rhythmic, tiered run of rounded, bead-like segments stacked one above the other, giving the lamp a sculptural quality that a plain straight pole would not have, left in its natural pale finish rather than stained or painted. A white fabric drum shade sits on top, diffusing the light evenly into the room rather than casting it in any one direction. No dimensions, wattage or bulb information is confirmed by the supplier, which matters more on a floor lamp than most fittings since the overall height needs to suit the room.

Where it works: beside an armchair in a living room reading corner, or as a floor lamp anywhere a table lamp would leave too little light.
