Rafsanjan Pendant Light

A single solid crystal globe cut with deep facets, capped in brass and hung on a plain black fabric cable.

Solid crystal rather than blown glass, which is why it is heavy for its size and why the light behaves the way it does. Hexagonal and pentagonal facets are ground and polished by hand across the whole sphere, so one small lamp inside becomes dozens of bright points and a scatter of prisms on the ceiling above. The brass cap is burnished and small enough to stay out of the way. Hung in a row over a worktop these read as jewels rather than shades, and the crystal lifts off the fitting for cleaning, which matters above a hob.

Where it works: in a row over a kitchen island, at bedside height in pairs, or grouped at staggered lengths in a hallway.
