Amol Flush Ceiling Light

A wide ellipse of raw split bamboo woven into an open lattice and fixed flat to the ceiling, warm in colour before it is even switched on.

This is the untouched version of the weave: no paint, no stain, just split cane laid in a diagonal lattice over a rounded former, so the colour runs from pale straw to honey across a single shade. That variation is the appeal and it is also the risk, because no two pieces come out the same. Lit, the open weave throws a grid of shadow onto the ceiling and the surrounding wall, and the light that comes through the cane picks up its warmth on the way. A matt gold disc finishes the underside. It sits flat against the ceiling rather than dropping, which makes it usable in rooms that cannot take a pendant.

Where it works: a bedroom, a living room, or a hallway and landing where the ceiling is too low for anything on a drop.

Raw cane keeps changing colour slowly in daylight, so it will warm further over a few years. If you need an exact match to something, this is not the shade for it.
