Vologases Chandelier

Eight tapered opal glass cones on brass spokes, the wider version of the same mid century frame.

Spokes radiate from a low brass hub and each one holds a milky white glass cone, narrow at the top and open at the bottom. The glass is opal so it glows evenly across the whole shade rather than showing the lamp inside, which keeps a fitting with eight lamps from becoming glary. Black cords lift from the spoke ends to a brass ceiling plate and hold the spread flat and level. Eight arms rather than six makes the circle wider, so this version needs a bigger table or a wider room to sit above without crowding.

Where it works: over a large dining room table, in a living room, or above a stairwell where the flat spread reads well from below.
