Sohrab Wall Light

Two milky white opal cones angled down from a round brass plate, giving two soft pools of light rather than a wash.

A plain brass disc with a small square block at its centre holds two short arms, and each arm carries a tapered opal glass cone pointing downward. Opal glass diffuses, so the lamps never show and the light leaves as an even glow from the wide open end of each shade. Pointed down like this the fitting throws light onto whatever is below it rather than up the wall, which is why it suits a bedside or the space over a sideboard. The brass is burnished rather than bright and sits quietly against a dark or pale wall.

Where it works: over a bed as a single fitting, in a bedroom beside a mirror, or in a living room above a sideboard.
