Two milky white opal cones on a dark bronze plate, so the shades read bright and the metal almost disappears.

The strongest contrast of the family. The backplate, block and arms are finished in a brushed bronze that sits close to black, and against that the opal cones look almost luminous even before they are switched on. Each cone tapers and opens downward, and because opal glass diffuses there is no visible filament and no hot spot, just an even glow from the wide end. Solid brass under the finish, with copper visible only where a highlight runs across the metal. The shade shape is unchanged from the brass version, only the frame reads differently.

Where it works: over a bed at bedside height, in a bedroom against a pale wall, or in a living room where the ironmongery is already dark. It suits a hallway equally well.
