Siyavash Floor Lamp

A barrel shaped linen lantern carried on three slim black legs. The shade does the talking and the tripod stays out of the way underneath it.

The shade is an open woven natural linen stretched over slim wooden ribs in a tall barrel profile, so the frame reads through the fabric as a set of soft vertical lines and the light comes out warm and evenly spread. It is a tall barrel rather than a drum, which is what gives the lamp its lantern character rather than a shade on a stick. The legs are powder coated black steel, splayed wide enough to stand safely on a rug, with the flex trailing from the top of one of them. It puts the light at reading height beside an armchair.

Where it works: beside an armchair in a living room, in a reading corner, or filling a bare corner of a bedroom.
