Shirvan Pendant Light

A globe of natural linen stretched over a wooden frame and hung between two black metal rings. It reads like a paper lantern with none of the fragility.

The linen is loose woven and slightly open, so the weave itself shows against the light and the wooden ribs behind it read as faint vertical lines. Lit, the whole sphere glows evenly and warmly rather than throwing a beam. Unlit, it holds its shape as a pale sculptural volume against the wall. Black powder coated rings cap the top and bottom and carry the flex, which is the only hard edge on the piece. The supplier caps the lamp at a low wattage, so an LED is the only sensible choice.

Where it works: over a living room seating area, in a bedroom, or above a dining table in a room that already has plenty of wood and texture in it.
