A clear glass teardrop with a hammered surface and an antique brass holder, sold as a base so the shade is your choice.

The glass is blown into a teardrop, full at the bottom and drawn in at the top, with a dimpled hammered surface that breaks up the reflections and disguises the flex running down inside. Clear glass gives away everything, so that texture is what makes the base look considered rather than empty. The collar and holder are antique brass, warm enough to sit with oak and brass hardware.

Where it works: a bedside table, a living room sideboard, or a hallway console, with a shade chosen for the room.
