Nain Table Lamp

A tall white stoneware base combed into soft horizontal ripples, finished with a white cotton drum shade and a gold lamp holder.

The base is thrown in stoneware and the surface is worked while the clay is still soft, so the ripples run round it in loose uneven bands rather than machine perfect rings. Glazed white and lit from above, those bands break the light into a quiet horizontal texture that stops a plain white lamp from looking flat. It tapers gently from a wide foot to a narrower neck, which gives it presence without much footprint. The shade is white cotton on an iron frame, tapered, so light spreads down and out rather than pooling. A gold lamp holder sits between the two.

Where it works: on a living room console or sideboard, or on a bedroom chest of drawers, in a scheme built on white, cream and pale timber.

No maximum wattage is published, so keep to a standard LED rather than a high output filament lamp inside a fabric shade.
