Ardestan Pendant Light

A solid block of faceted crystal, cut on every face, suspended inside an open brass cube that is hung on its corner rather than square.

The crystal is the piece. It is a chunky cut block that catches the lamp behind it and throws small bright points across a ceiling, so the light reads as sparkle rather than glow. Around it sits an open brass cage of eight slim edges, tipped so it hangs on a corner and reads as a diamond from most angles. Because the frame is open there is nothing to soften the lamp, so this fitting is at its strongest over a table where the drop puts the crystal near eye level. Brass chain, brass frame, brass lamp holder, all in the same finish.

Where it works: low over a dining table, in a hallway with a decent ceiling height, or in a stairwell where the cube can be read from more than one floor.

Pick a decorative lamp for it. The cage hides nothing, so a bare frosted bulb will let the whole fitting down.
