A short ribbed clear glass shade under a natural travertine stone top and a brass collar, hung on a black fabric flex from a matching stone ceiling rose.

The glass is clear and vertically ribbed, drawn into a soft squared cylinder, so the lamp inside stays fully visible while the ribbing bends the light into fine vertical bands across the surrounding wall. The top of the shade is capped by a piece of travertine, pale and open pored, and a warm brass collar joins the two. The ceiling rose is travertine as well, which is unusual and is what stops the fitting looking like a bare bulb on a cord. A black fabric flex keeps the drop visually thin. Hang two or three in a row over a run of worktop and the ribbing does the rest.

Where it works: above a kitchen island, over a dining table, or in a living room, singly or in a row.
