Ardakan Pendant Light

A ribbed clear glass cylinder under a natural travertine cap, hung on a slim black fabric flex from a matching stone ceiling rose.

The glass is ribbed vertically the whole way round, so a filament or a globe lamp inside is drawn out into fine repeating lines rather than left as one hard bright point. The top cap and the ceiling rose are travertine, a warm cream stone with the open pitted grain the material is known for, and no two pieces are identical. The black fabric flex is deliberately thin so the stone and the glass carry the weight of the design. It is a small, quiet fitting rather than a statement, which is why it is usually hung in a row of two or three over an island.

Where it works: over a kitchen island or a dining table, usually in a run of two or three, and singly above a bedside table.
