Three ribbed glass cones on an antique brass plate, each on a ball joint so the light can be aimed at a mirror, a shower or a wall.

The glass is ribbed outside and frosted within, so each head throws a soft edged pool rather than a hard circle and the ribs catch a highlight of their own. Antique brass is a warmer, duller finish than polished brass, so it sits with older tiling and painted timber better than chrome does. The heads swivel on ball joints through a wide arc, and the fitting sits close to the ceiling on a round plate.

Where it works: a bathroom aimed at the mirror, or a bedroom where three adjustable heads replace a central pendant.

Bulbs are an extra purchase, one per head. Buy LED rather than halogen, or you will be changing them from a ladder over a bath.
