Three opal glass spheres hung under a slim cream bar on a short stem, close enough to the ceiling for a room that cannot take a pendant.

Opal glass diffuses rather than transmits, so each sphere glows evenly across its whole surface instead of showing the bulb inside it as a hot spot. The three globes sit under a single cream powder coated bar that matches the canopy, so the metalwork stays quiet and the glass does the work. Each arm is individually adjustable, which matters more than it sounds on a three light bar: you can even the spacing to a bed or a table rather than accepting the factory setting. Overall the fitting sits close to the ceiling, so it reads as semi flush rather than as a drop.
