Gorgan Flush Ceiling Light

Six black arms radiating from a flat ceiling plate, each ending in an exposed bulb, so the lamps you choose become the whole look of the fitting.

There is no shade here and no diffuser. Six straight arms of different lengths cross over a flat circle and each one holds a bare lamp, which means the fitting reads as a sputnik of radiating points rather than as a single mass of light. That makes the bulb choice the design decision: clear globes give a mid century look, filament squirrel cages read warmer and older, and a plain frosted lamp will flatten it. The whole thing sits flat against the ceiling, so it works in rooms that cannot take a drop, and it is light for its size. Everything, including the lamp holders, is matt black.

Where it works: a hallway or landing where a pendant would be in the way, or a living room ceiling that wants some geometry.

Six bare lamps would be far too much light at full output. Warm white LED globes are the sensible fit, and they are the part of this fitting people actually see.
