Two matt black cylinders on a short ceiling bar, each swivelling through 90 degrees, for putting light exactly where a room needs it.

A plain rectangular bar carries two cylinder heads in lacquered steel, black outside and white inside so the reflector stays bright while the body disappears against a dark ceiling. Each head turns through 90 degrees independently, which is the difference between a spot bar that lights a wall and one that lights whatever you point it at. The whole fitting is compact enough for a hallway ceiling or the wall above a desk. The lamps sit down inside the cylinders, so you see the light rather than the lamp.

Where it works: down a hallway, over a home office desk, or angled onto a kitchen island worktop.

A pair of small, low output LEDs gives plenty of light for a hallway and runs cool inside a small cylinder.
