Abarkuh Table Lamp

A hand shaped ceramic base with a coarse sanded surface, under a wide fabric drum that keeps the light soft and low on a bedside table.

The base is the piece worth looking at. It is a rounded ceramic form, wider at the bottom and drawn in towards the neck, finished matt in a warm cream with a visibly gritty surface that catches side light and gives the lamp some weight next to plain glazed ceramics. The shade sits wide but shallow, so the light falls downwards onto a surface rather than out across a room, which is what you want beside a bed. A toggle switch sits on the white fabric cable, so you are not reaching under the shade in the dark.

Where it works: a bedside table, a hallway console, or a living room sideboard where a low pool of light is the point.

A warm white LED is the right fit for a bedside, and the sanded base looks better under warm light than cool.
