Neyriz Table Lamp

A lamp covered top to bottom in ivory cotton boucle, with a straight cylinder shade sitting on a tapered cone base.

Boucle is a looped, woven yarn, so the surface is covered in small raised nubs that break up the light instead of reflecting it, and the whole lamp has the soft, slightly woolly look of a boucle chair rather than the flat face of a printed shade. Base and shade are wrapped in the same ivory cloth, which makes the silhouette read as one object: a plain cylinder balanced on a cone. Lit, the fabric glows from the inside and the raised loops throw tiny shadows across themselves. Underneath it is an iron frame, heavy enough to sit steady on a nightstand.

Where it works: on a bedroom nightstand, a living room side table, or anywhere a neutral scheme needs texture rather than another colour.

Boucle holds dust in a way flat cotton does not. It wants an occasional brush rather than a wipe.
