A turned column base in a pale limed wood tone, with a bulbous middle and a stepped foot, under a gently tapered natural linen shade.

The profile is a traditional baluster: a stepped round foot, a swelling belly turned with fine rings above and below it, and a narrow neck rising to the shade. Cast rather than turned in solid timber, but moulded closely enough that the grain and the tool marks read as real from a normal distance. The colour is a pale limed brown grey rather than a plain brown. Above it sits a tapered linen shade with a defined border along the bottom edge, which keeps the outline crisp and stops the fabric looking soft. Linen diffuses warmly and takes the hard edge off a bare lamp.

Where it works: a living room side table, a hallway console, or a bedroom where a traditional profile suits the room better than a plain cylinder.
