Estahban Wall Light

A thick slab of frosted, swirled glass held on a squared brass bracket and tipped forward, so the light runs down the wall rather than into the room.

The glass is the point. It is a heavy textured panel with cloudy swirls trapped inside it, so light passing through is broken up unevenly and never reads as a flat glowing rectangle. Where the swirls are dense the panel stays pale, where the glass is clear it goes bright, and the pattern is different on every piece. The brass bracket is deliberately plain: two squared arms off a rectangular wall plate, gripping the panel top and bottom and holding it at a downward angle. It is a wall light for texture and shadow rather than for reading by.

Where it works: as a bedside light beside a bed, along a hallway, or in a living room alcove where the texture of the glass will actually be seen.
