Anzali Table Lamp

A small fluted ceramic lamp under a cream shade, with a reactive glaze that pools and breaks differently on every piece.

The base is stoneware, thrown as a short fluted drum with a smooth collar above it, and finished in a reactive glaze. Reactive means the glaze moves in the kiln: it stays pale and creamy where it sits thin over the ridges and gathers darker and speckled where it runs into the flutes, so the piece you receive will not match this photograph exactly. That is the character of the finish rather than a fault. Over it sits a small drum shade in a cream woven fabric that softens the light into a warm circle, which suits the scale of the thing. It is a bedside sort of lamp rather than a room lamp.

Where it works: on a bedside table, a narrow hallway shelf, or a bedroom chest where a full sized lamp would crowd the surface.

This is a small shade, so keep to a low output LED rather than a filament lamp.
