Isfahan Lamp Shade

A white cotton shade on a rolled iron frame, the larger of the two drum sizes in this style, the one for a tall base.

At this width the shade stops being an accessory and starts setting the proportion of the whole lamp. Light leaves it low and wide, washing a corner rather than lighting a surface, so it belongs on a floor lamp or a tall table base with the height to carry it. Snow white cotton keeps that light clean and slightly cool, which is useful in a room already full of warm timber and brass. The cloth is closely woven over a rolled iron frame, and it is tapered from bottom to top in the photograph, although the supplier publishes no figure for how much at this size.
