Three opal glass globes set along a slim brass bar, hung on rigid poles so it stays level over an island instead of swinging on cords.

The globes are opal, not clear, so each one glows evenly and there is no bare lamp in your eyeline while you are working under it. They sit at staggered points along the bar rather than in a neat row, which stops a long run looking like a strip light. Suspension is by rigid poles from two ceiling points, so the bar hangs straight and stays where it is put, and the drop can be set to suit your ceiling height at installation. The brass is warm and satin, with black detailing at the joints, and the whole fitting is hardwired rather than plugged in.

Where it works: over a kitchen island, along a dining table, or in a dining room where a long horizontal fitting suits the shape of the room.
