Abadeh Wall Light

A cylinder of crackle textured glass hung under a slim curved brass arm, so the shade floats clear of the wall on tie rods rather than sitting against it.

Crackle glass is fractured on purpose, the surface run through with fine lines that catch and split the light so a plain filament lamp reads as a scatter of small bright points. Here it is formed into a straight sided cylinder, suspended from a small disc by four thin rods, which is what keeps the shade looking light. The arm above it is a single brass tube bent into a shepherds crook off an oval wall plate, and that curve is what gives the fitting its height and stops it reading as a lantern. The shade is glass, not metal, whatever the supplier listing calls it, and it projects a fair way from the wall, so measure a corridor before committing.

Where it works: as a bedside light beside a bed, along a hallway, or on a landing where the height of the arm suits the wall.

Crackle glass does nothing for a frosted bulb. Put a clear filament lamp in it or the texture is wasted.
