A large brass ring hung on a rigid stem, ringed with upright fluted glass tubes standing at two alternating heights.

This is a statement, room sized circle fitting rather than a light, and everything about the construction follows from that. The ring is a flat brass band, carried on a rigid central stem rather than chain or cord, because a ring this large needs to be held rigid rather than allowed to swing. Around it stand fluted glass tubes, alternating tall and short, each with a long filament lamp inside so the whole ring reads as a run of candles at two levels. The supplier states the fittings are stainless steel finished to match the brass, which is a structural choice on a piece with this much load.

Where it works: over a large dining room table, in a stairwell or double height hallway where a ring this size can be read from below without crowding the space.
