Jamshid Pendant Light

A thick ring of natural alabaster, hung flat on fine cables so it glows softly and evenly around its whole circumference as one stone halo.

The whole fitting is one piece of stone worked into a deep ring, with a rounded outer edge and a clean bore through the middle. Alabaster transmits light rather than reflecting it, so lit from inside the ring becomes the light source itself, glowing softly across its whole face with the natural veining showing through as darker and lighter bands. Unlit it reads as a solid stone object. It hangs level on fine cables from a small canopy, which keeps the visual weight in the ring and out of the suspension.

Where it works: over a dining room table, in a living room as the single fitting in the space, or in a wide hallway with height to carry it.
