The sculptural blue ceramic base sold as a complete lamp, with a taupe cotton shade already matched to it.
The base is glazed stoneware fluted in soft vertical ribs, shaped as a tiered form of two stacked rounded volumes with a pinched waist and a scalloped collar, glossy enough that the pale blue glaze pools darker in every hollow. Over it sits a taupe cotton shade on an iron frame, and the pairing is the point: taupe is warm and greyed, so it takes the coolness out of the blue and stops the lamp shouting. Light comes through the cloth soft and low in contrast, which suits a base this decorative. A cable with an in-line on off switch means it is switched at the lamp rather than at the wall.
Where it works: on a living room sideboard, a bedroom chest, or a hallway console where the blue can carry the whole surface.
